About the wine

Produced in very small quantities, our red Ursus, 90% of Syrah, is an exceptional wine for ageing.

Grapes, very concentrated, come from old and exceptionnal vineyards (+60 years)  with very low returns. They receive special attention from farming to wine-making process. The long maceration gives to this wine a very dark color and intense flavors.

The wine is aged in oak cask during 12 months, which allows a micro oxygenation and produces a well-structured and harmonious wine.

Background Winery

In 2008, Fabienne & Michel decided to change their life and to realize their dream become winemakers.

The moment was appropriate (The children have grown up) and the perfect place is chosen to lead this crazy project, which is Provence!

The Broton s Family  moved in 2012 and renamed the vineyard “Clos de l’Ours”. “Ours” means bear in French, a wink to the new winemaker, Michel!

The adventure begins…

The winery produce character wines with passion, on a land farmed since The Templars ages.  This would not have been possible without support and help of different persons, especially the oenologist Daniel Abrial (Domaine Tempier in Bandol).

The first family vintage was born in 2012.

The childrens now have joined the adventure, Fabien the son is now acting successfully as the winemaker of The Clos de L Ours.

Since few years, the Brotons family and the Clos de L Ours Became one of the most famous winery of Provence, definitely one of the best rising star of the region.
